BLIND GUARDIAN „Imaginations Through the Looking Glass – DVD”

BLIND GUARDIAN „Imaginations Through the Looking Glass - DVD” - okładka

This DVD was given to me by a very special friend that is responsible for turning me onto this band and I am grateful that he did. This set was filmed at the first ever BLIND GUARDIAN open air festival held in COBURG GERMANY on June 14th 2003. This will be a night that will and should go down in metal history. I have never heard or seen an open air performance that has ever topped this one in any fashion shape or form. This band has come a long way since hitting the scene in 1988 and they have built a fan base that will be hard to beat by no easy means. June 14th was a magical night for the band and the bond that was created between them and the fans. The band hit the stage with a fury after a magical and soul stirring spoken intro and a hail of pyro explosions. The sharpness and crispness of this bands deliverance is surgically precise. The duel guitar attack by this band seems to be polished to perfection like a fine diamond. Each chop and each lick traded between the two seem to accent as well as compliment each other. Each one seems to feed off each other to the point where you think that there is nothing else they can not do. The bass and keys in this performance are preformed by stand in musicians that are not permanent members of the band but buy the performance they give you would think they have been there since day one. The drum work on this performance is the highlight for me. The timing and precision preformed here is breathtaking at the least. You can hear all elements of metal here at there best. Double bass as well as layered and structured drum beats that will leave you in awe of the performance given but yet there is a since of great pride felt when you watch this. The pride comes from the band in there performance of the music as well as the fans in the band.

The audience participation at this show is the most incredible I have ever seen. The first disc of this set is just the show and it spans a length of two hours in length. The second disc is full of some of the best behind the scenes footage I have ever seen shot for a DVD as well as a very nice interview with the band and other goodies as well. This set might take a little effort to track down but trust me it is well worth the hunt. In my opinion this is by far the best DVD release of the year and I have seen my share. In my opinion this should be given the honors of DVD of the year bestowed upon it. This is a must have for any fan of talking fantasy metal or just fantasy power metal in general.
