WEAK & MORTAL unveil debut single “Begging for Death” from upcoming EP “The Darkest Places on the Earth”

A new force rises from the Polish underground as WEAK & MORTAL, a progressive death metal duo, present their first single “Begging for Death”, taken from the upcoming debut EP “The Darkest Places on the Earth”.

Formed in early 2025 following the hiatus of CORTEGE, musicians Sebastian Bartek and Kamil Szuszkiewicz chose to continue their path under a new name — expanding their sound beyond traditional death metal boundaries. While still rooted in the genre, WEAK & MORTAL incorporate progressive structures, electronic elements, and samples, crafting a more diverse and unconventional sonic identity.

After unsuccessful attempts to complete a full lineup, the duo decided to proceed independently, ultimately shaping their debut material as a focused and personal artistic statement.

Recording & Production

In December 2025, the band entered DiGaZ Recording Studio in Karviná, Czech Republic, working with Tom “Digaz” Pletnický (Inferno, Thenemis), whose production played a key role in defining the final sound of the EP.

The cover artwork was created by Kamil Szuszkiewicz, further reinforcing the project’s DIY and artistic cohesion.

About the EP

“The Darkest Places on the Earth” delivers four tracks spanning nearly 25 minutes of music described as dark, heavy, unconventional, and at times anthemic — blending intensity with experimentation.
