BATHORY „Under The Sign Of The Black Mark”

BATHORY „Under The Sign Of The Black Mark” - okładka
Music: Black Metal

Cool Songs: Woman Of Dark Desires, Call From The Grave, Enter The Eternal Fire, 13 Candles

This album is one of my favourite Bathory's releases. It contains everything in right proportions. We've got here some fast paced, furious Black Metal songs with blast beats and some pre-viking, slower ones. All are well composed and recorded. The production is raw but better than on the previous album „The Return……”. We can hear some keyboards which perfectly fit into the music and make some horror atmosphere.

The vocals are typical raspy Black Metal schreeching but quite understanable. Here and there we can find some catchy melodies of choruses but everything is kept in the evil, grim style. Just listen to the beginning of „Call From The Grave”. That creepy sound is believed to be schratching in the coffin…from the inside. Don't listen it at night!!!

The whole album is a great journey to the dark world of Countess Bathory, great battles, mythological heroes as Equimanthorn and we will be witnesses of a born of the child of the underworld in the light of 13 candles. If you're into Black Metal (the real one, not gothic, keyboard dark metal such as Cradle or Dimmu) you'll like it. No disadvantages has been found. It isn't maybe better than Bathory's viking albums but after 17 years still can impress.

note: 9/10
