AEON „Bleeding the False”
More quality death metal assured with this latest Unique Leader release. This is apparently not Aeons first release as they were previously signed to Necropolis records but the music on this CD sounds to me as they have made a fresh start as this is some vicious stuff.
HUMAN TAXIDERMY „s/t”
Cool Songs: Accelerated negative motion, The subtraction theory, suicide agenda.
.
LEAVES EYES „Vinland Saga”
Leaves Eyes debut album was an impressive debut, because as far as I was concerned they went for the less is more approach and created a beautiful collection of songs that you could listen to no matter what mood you found yourself in. There were the soothing songs and the more upbeat ones, all falling into place when listened too together.
.
DEEDS Of FLESH „Crown Of Souls”
As those of you who have read my reviews before know, I have a bit of a thing for Deeds Of Flesh. A relationship that goes way back to their debut album proper in 1996 which left me wanting more and intrigued as to where they would go further down the line.
ANAL STENCH „Stench like 6 demons”
Now, this is rather good. Anal Blast are a Polish super group (admittedly) made up of groups I have never heard of) but this doesn’t matter as this is a strong release of Brutal death metal.
KLIMT 1918 „Undressed Momento”
I feel very honoured this year as I have had the chance to hear some stunning albums all from different scenes within the metal spectrum. We’ve had Dagoba, Darkness Remains and now the very special Klimt 1918.
ARCH ENEMY „Anthems of Rebellion”
I know that there is already a review of this album on Metal Centre, but we are all entitled to our own opinion are we not?
.
RAGE „SoundChaser”
So, another year, another Rage album. These guys must be one of the most hard working groups around what with all the touring and finding the time to make top class albums such as this.
.
AKERCOCKE „Choronzon”
Production, production, production. I know I keep coming back to this word, but it makes the world of difference if you can actually hear what is being played rather than sit and think to yourself “was this recorded up someone’s bottom”?
.
MITHRAS „Worlds beyond the veil”
There’s no doubt that over the years, the UK has produced some outstanding metal acts. For me, Carcass was probably the best of the lot.
VILGEFORTZ „Killing one by one”
I’m sorry guys, but this really isn’t my cup of tea. I suppose this is an admirable attempt, but the songs lack a decent production and the guitars sound very weak.
VARIOUS ARTISTS „Adipocere – Innate”
I do love the French, but they do have a bad habit of releasing some utter bollocks from time to time (or introducing the rest of the world to bands that shouldn’t even have a record deal). All I can say is thank God this was free.
.
WACO JESUS „Filth”
I consider myself to be open minded, but the front cover of this CD takes things a bit too far. I can take sick cover art to a certain degree, for example those which are carefully crafted, but this is just offensive and unnecessary.
UNMOORED „Kingdoms of greed”
I read a review of this album just after its release in late 2001 which compared it to some of Hypocrisy's faster material. This isn't far from the truth, but it's not paying Unmoored their full dues as overall, this is better than anything Hypocrisy has ever released.
SEVERED SAVIOUR „Brutality is Law”
Can Unique Leader do any wrong at the moment? After blistering releases from Mortal Decay, Disgorge and the new Deeds of Flesh comes this superb exercise in death metal brutality. The sound is crystal clear and the band plays as a very tight unit.
SHILTON, EARL „Two rooms (full of insects)”
I had heard a lot about this and was excited when I was sent it to review. Earl Shilton was for the recording of this album, a one man project – Alex Thomas.
