Oxiplegatz is a band dont well known for many metal fans. Well, this band (or i mean, solo project) was (or it is?) formed by Alf Svensson, ex at the gates. In this album, you can listen a great mix of elements of -a la at the gates- death metal, black metal and heavy metal in general accentuated with a lot of keyboards, symphonic arrangements and great soprano and barytone vocals. There are several bands that makes this nowadays, but what makes oxiplegatz special is that all the ambiance of the album, as much as the music and the lyrics, deal with the science fiction and space concept. So, this situation makes this album a very unique in their own. I highly recommend this one if you are into real interesting bands in the metal kingdom.
As a matter of fact, Christofer Jhonsson was involved in some arrangements, but i'm not 100% sure if this is the same guy of Therion fame.
At last, once i read a review of this album in some webpage, and the reviewer criticize the keyboard sounds, just because they were “too old” for the year that was released. Well, in my oppinion, who cares about the keyboard sound if the composition is more than excellent?
