Dutch HYMIR released the first album “Nyctophobia” after five years of existence. Earlier they released only Ep. However this waiting was worth for this material…

“Nyctophobia” is the pretty controversial title of album, because the title defines phobia of darkness and this album is suitable to listening in the night – deepening night darkness and spreading fear as well as horror. The album contains 10 hymns – very ill-boding, gloomy and apocalyptic and simultaneously inspired by aggression and dynamism which roots are in Black Metal with symphonic ornamentation…

The music of HYMIR is collision of the sharp riffs of guitar, the strong hits of drums and ill-boding vocals with monumental keys, mystical choruses as well as dark samples… The musical fan HYMIR stretches very wide – from the slow arrangements of Black Metal throughout the brutal and furious subjects till melodious motives and melancholy insertions. The compositions contain a lots of the surprising solutions, sudden changes of intensity and of climate, which sometimes very reminds SAMAEL. However HYMIR is more symphonic. Moreover I feel here the pinch of similarity to DIMMU BORGIR.
