DEVILDRIVER „s/t”

DEVILDRIVER „s/t” - okładka

This is a disc that caught me be surprise. I have been a huge Dez Fafara fan for years but just thought he was wasting his time with COAL CHAMBER all but the last CHAMBER disc DARK DAYS. DARK DAYS in my opinion was the calm before the storm for Fafara in a lot of ways. I am very impressed with this disc in a lot of ways from the structure of the music to the writing and the over all band performance. This disc is like taking a sledge hammer to the face if you are UN prepared for it. The classic Fafara vocal style is present at all times and will not let up not even for a second. Pitts and Kendrick present a twin guitar attack that brings back memories of groups such as SLAYER & TESTAMENT but with the overall crunch and thickness of PANTERA & DAMAGE PLAN. The rhythm section of Boecklin & Miller lays a foundation that gives the whole band something solid to stand on. This is a twelve track CD that will stand the test of time in the extreme metal world. But at the same time let me say that this CD will not be fully appreciated for quite some time until DEVILDRIVER has a few CD’s under there belt and have really been noticed. Unless you keep up with Dez Fafara and his past works this disc could very easily be passed by on the shelf and should not be. By no means should this disc be ignored in any way in fact this is a serious must have for any one that likes there metal as thick and heavy as concrete. Make that concrete with shards of glass mixed in. Need I say more? This is one fucking serious slab of metal for fans with a need for power.
