Every Morbid Angel release has been a masterpiece, pure quality Death Metal, and “Gateways To Anihilation” is no exception. This cd proves the immense progress that the band has been experiencing in a level of composition and execution. Beyond the fast brutality that any Morbid Angel fan can expect on a new release, this guys added more slower parts on their songs, without taking the heaviness that is characteristic on their releases. Another highpoint of the album is the drums. Pete Sandoval has achieved a level of technique and sound really amazing. Every blast sounds flawless. Trey Azagthoth again proves to be an amazing guitar player with his characteristic mind-blowing solos and composing creativity. I think that one of the reasons that still make Morbid Angel one of the premier Death Metal bands with an outstanding discography is the way their music has evolved without losing the elements that make every release unique, but adding more tecnique, brutality and feel into their amazing music.
