INSIDE THE MONSTER WORLD TOUR 2005 – BRAINSTORM, AT VANCE, MERCENARY

What will be presented to the people in the RoFa tonight?
BRAINSTORM – first time on headliner tour and with a new killer album called „Liquid Monster“ (release date was April 04, 2005) and at home… Anyone is excited and waits for the musical things that are going to be served to us by the RockFabrik this night…

MERCENARY from Denmark were the opening act with their progressiv power metal. Walls of guitars that Jakob and Martin manufactured, a man behind the drums who didn´t leave any fullfilled dreams, keyboards that you couldn´t hear that much and a singer who could scream that high that he sounded like a good mixture of Halford and Ralf Scheepers to their best times! Singer Mikke shared the vocals with bassist Kral, who did the grunts. And even keyboardist Morten and also drummer (!) Mike had to show their vocal parts, even if those were the back up vocals. MERCENARY had the RoFa under control. There were many people who knew the guys from Denmark and who appreciate the music. Vocals… They burned the brain like acid! The band did a very good performance on stage, just like they have never done anything different. About 40 minutes long there have been a lot of old, but also brandnew songs of the brandnew album called „11 Dreams“, like for example the titletrack of that masterpiece. Totally I can say: A very good concert!

After a nice, but short break AT VANCE entered the stage. The actual German band that consists on ž non-Germans immediately gave us a blast with their fast metal music. Super-singer Mats Levén (always banging his head…), who also did the lead vocals on the last Therion tour, also did a fabulous and very sympathic job and brought the audience to work with him. He always held the eyes on it and always gave a smile. Also his vocal achievement impressed much. The solos of Olaf Lenk (attention! The good man offers you guitar lessons while being on tour!! If you are interested in: lessons@at-vance.com) gave us a blast. For every fan a thing: older and newer songs went through the ears. A little thin felt the missing rhythm guitarist, when Olaf played his solos. And nobody needs an instrumental piece… The fans were happy anyway! And the fans already knew the new album called „Chained“. Congratulations to John Smith (Bass) and Mark Cross (Drums) for a killer work! By the way, we don´t need any drumsolos as well. We know, how good metal musicians are! 🙂
Yes, main acts again and again have the bad (?) habit to do everything perfect… Are therefore the looong breaks? Well, okay… We try to kill time by drinking coke and listening to bad background music… But the excitement went into eternity, as the lights went out and the stage lights went on. I haven´t seen BRAINSTORM for more than one year now and I could not stand it to see them live again – and this is how the rest of the people thought and felt – and it was Wednesday evening! A full house!

After the support tour for Edguy last year, the five guys can now be happy with their first headliner tour. The Germans were celebrated from the first second on and they kicked ass from that second on! Also here they played a best of-set of every important album so far. A few songs were for example „Hollow Hideaway“, the oriental „Shiva´s Tears“, the stamping „The leading“, „Highs without lows“ and new pieces of the album “Liquid Monster”, too. Already tracks like „Inside the monster“ were sung by the hardcore fans loudly. The Ludwigsburg and Budapest audience had the privileg to see and hear Carmen Schäfer, who did an atmospheric duet with singer Andy B. Franck. „All those words“ produced a creep because of the team work of Andy´s strong and Carmen´s amazingly nice, but powerful voice. She seemed a bit nervös on stage. If it was because that they didn´t rehearse that song at all? BRAINSTORM gave us a little difference. So they threw a three-song-medley to the fans (with „Tear down the walls“). And also this time you could have a look at Andy who got wetter and wetter each minute… And this is what the enthusiastic RockFabrik felt, too, this night. After lots of thank you´s of Andy B. Franck, the guests didn´t let „their“ band go off the stage. And so BRAINSTORM presented us „Doorway to survive“. And after 2 hours the band earned to fall into the bed (bed? Nope, club!!! :-)), to be fit for the next day/concert.
Again a big praise to the stage action of the whole band! Value for money! The audience is always involved!

You don´t always need a huge stage decoration. The simple way is enough, that means light and sound must fit. And all three bands had the luck to have both!

What a package! MERCENARY could warmen up the guys and girls very well! After the split from Oliver Hartmann of AT VANCE I was very excited how Mats Levén will act under the hand of Olaf Lenk: You passed, Mats! 😉 And BRAINSTORM: Without any words!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!
