THE WOLVERINES – Interview with Trotzky

I had the chance to talk about old good rock’n’roll, whores and Satan, with The Wolverines’ guitarist, Trotzky.

Welcome Trotzky

Hey!

Since coming out wit a promo “Million Hells” some time passed. What did you do in the mean time and did anything happen with the band?

What did I do? I did what I do everyday…nothing (laughter). The band…with different frequency and different outcome we had a couple of sessions, we did a few kick ass songs and we’re slowly starting to think where and when to record it…

What kinds of feelings are there between you guys? Everyone adds something to the music or is it different?

Everyone puts in whatever they can…but most of the time it looks kind of like this, one of us brings a “frame” of a song and later on we build around the frame…adding and deducting along the way.

How does Nergal take playing with you guys? Does he treat seriously or is it just to get away from Behemoth??

I don’t know, ask Nergal (laughter)

Where did the idea to play fiery rock’n’roll come from and who came up with it?

You know, we were sitting on the beach with Nergal one day, and Satan came and he said to us: “You guys see that whore? If you wan to play around with her ass, take your guitars and play rock for me, and I’m gonna giver to you…” (laughter). But seriously, it’s hard to talk about an idea, it just came to us…back in the Hefeystos days I already had the urge to play this kind of rock, similar with Nergal, since like Behemoth’s third album, he was coming up with ballads that he didn’t know where to put … finally we figured that it’s worth to take it all together and do something about it…how it’s going come out, well, we will have to wait and see.

I have to say that “ Million Hells” made a positive impression on me. How was it received in the underground?

I don’t really give a damn – I like it and screw what others think (laughter).

Who wrote the lyrics and what are they about? Looking at the titles (War With Christ) and fragments of the texts I came to an assumption that as true rockers should you’re not filled with love for the heavenly beings…haha

Nergal wrote the lyrics, but Nick (our bassist) also helped out in that area. What are they about? Just as any other good rock’n’roll lyrics are, they’re about the Devil and whore, in some cases abouth whores and the Devil (laughter). Speaking of the heavenly beings…as long as she has 90/ 60 / 90 and big lips, I’m sure we could give her some love (laughter).

Nergal plays in Behemoth. You recorded two albums with Hefeystos, and you also played in December’s Fire. What’s up with the other Wolverines? Did they play or/and are playing somewhere else besides The Wolverines?

Both of them played in a weird band; I think it was called Helldorado. They recorded a demo and fell apart.

Is Hefeystos a closed chapter? You made a lot of “noizz” under that name, are you planning on playing again?

I’m not sure if we made a lot “noizz”, but on both albums we had sorry ass vocalists, lame sound, and nearly zero of experience. True, we had a couple of good ideas, it was fun too, but right now I wouldn’t release these albums (laughter). And I’m treating Hefeystos as a closed chapter, not to mention that I haven’t seen the guys and Alicja in something like 5 years or so, and I don’t even know what is happening with them – but I don’t give a damn anyways (laughter).

In interviews that you had, you mentioned something about new material called “Hellrock Cowboys”. When can we expect it?

When Nergal will have some free time, and we will move our asses and think that it would be nice to record something (laughter). The gossip is that in August or September we will get our asses up and enter some weird studio and raise hell, but that’s only gossip (laughter).

What kind of an album is it going to be? You could record a cover of Danzig or Motorhead, hehe.

It’s probably gonna be fucking awesome (laughter). We already have a couple of songs composed and they totally kick ass. They are gonna be a little different than the ones on the promo – technically we’re not copying from Danzig only, but also from Venom, Kiss, The Cult, and Billy Idol (laughter). Talking about covers…well…we have one that is ready, but it isn’t a Danzig or a Motorhead cover…but it’s a The Beatles cover (laughter). But in our case it sounds like Glenn took McCartney’s place and Lemmy took Lennon’s place (laughter).

What are you listening to currently and normally?

Currently, I’m listening to the latest Danzig album, new Manowar album and The Black League’s second album. Normally I listen to whatever I like at the time (laughter).

Ok, that’s all for now, see ya. Thanks Trotzky for the interview. Keep us updated about the changes in the band, etc. If you want you can say something to our readers what you want to get off your mind or heart, hehe. Take care and I wish you luck!

Thanks! Technically there’s nothing I want to get off of my heart since I don’t have one (laughter). But there’s no need to worry, our drummer doesn’t have a liver, and he’s still living (laughter). Listen to Venom and fuck for Satan! Goodnight (laughter).
