AFTER FEED-BACK „s/t”

AFTER FEED-BACK „s/t” - okładka

Though I normally don’t review anything besides Death and Black Metal, I received a release from AFTERFEEDBACK to whom hail from Spain. I want to let you know first hand that besides listening to the heavy brutal music, I have a wide variety of other genres of styles in my collection, and so I am not blind to the music known as Nu Metal
Ok before I go any further I’m finding it hard to believe that AFTERFEEDBACK is not known here in the states. So what if they hail from Spain, they did their homework when it came to what is hot here right now. Yeah everyone seems to think Nu-Metal is dead and that hard-core metal just might be the next big thing. Well if you turn on the radio, it sounds to me that Nu-Metal is still being played on the local rock stations.
The vocals on the 11 track disc are good. Some singing at times, some screaming other times. They are however rapped which to me is a thing that is starting to be fazed out. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t do it in every song, but it’s definitely evident. The scream-vocals are raspy while the singing is smooth and soft spoken. I like how they were presented and were mixed really well.
The guitar work is nothing different. Nothing really sticks out as far as catchy. Just your normal sound. They are heavy at times. Lots of melody.
The bass work is easy to hear in the 11 tracks. Kind of a low end sound which makes it easy to hear. Some of the runs are cool. I like the fact that they are not hidden. Some bands have tendencies to forget to turn up the bass a notch. This didn’t happen with AFTERFEEDBACK.
The drums are good also. Probably the biggest thing that stand out throughout the songs. Good sound, just all around good percussions.
AFTERFEEDBACK does have a DJ, which unlike some bands is used frequently, but when it is used, it is easy to hear. Again nothing stands out as catchy, just the norm.
Again I have too question why this band is basically unknown in the States, maybe it is lack of promotional push from their label, or god who knows. Fans of today’s sound would likely embrace them if they were known of. There is no doubt in my mind that they would have their critics saying that they sound like that band or this band. I don’t think there is any band out there that doesn’t have something about their sound that is theirs alone.
All in all I would say that this is a good release. It is unfortunate that they are unknown, but things can change. Sometimes over night. Good luck to the guys from Spain, keep plugging away. Do what your doing and you just might get noticed.
