Although NITE already had two albums on their account, I discovered them when they were releasing this third one called “Cult Of The Serpent Sun”. The band comes from the USA and their lineup is practically the same from the beginning, except the bass player who joined a few years ago.

The album starts with the title track which is filled with dynamic and catchy riffs and energetic guitar solo. I would place their style very close to traditional heavy metal, but the thing that is unusual are the growling vocals which are not that common in such music. Second one “Skull” is no different, such guitar work could be found on many JUDAS PRIEST albums and it is easy to hear that the band feels very comfortable in such style. I really like “The Mystic”, which as the name suggests, is very mysterious and atmospheric. It has slow tempo and slight traces of melodic guitars here and there. “Tarmut” is another one that has similar vibe – this song has very creepy mood and, as usual, great melodies. It seems that the musicians are effortless in creating such songs and that their sound and recipe for that is well grounded after two previous albums.

Most of the songs of the album are potential hits, so I think that most metal fans should get into this music even with the first attempt. Of course, many listeners can have one major comparison to GHOST while listening to the Americans, but the thing that stands out are the growling vocals and more dynamic and diverse songs – at least in my opinion. The band does not sound that polished as more famous band from Sweden which in my opinion is definitely an advantage. They could have sounded even dirtier and rough, so that the contrast between “The beauty” and “the beast” is even more evident, but still it makes great impression.
