JERKSTORE was founded in 1995 in Aalborg, a wealthy city surrounded by swamps in the Danish region of North Jutland. The band previously released five full-length albums, that is quite a lot. In the years 1995 – 1997 it was called DELHI DOWNLOAD but under this banner it revealed only one short demo to the world. The current name of the band comes from an episode of the American comedy series “Seinfeld”. The Danes gave concerts incl. together with VOLBEAT, RAUNCHY, HEAVEN SHALL BURN.

The music on “The Great Time Robbery” is described by its creators as “rock / metal”, but I would classify it as a mixture of strong rock and hard-rock, with elements of metal. The most metal track on the album is “In the Blood”. The music is instrumentally varied (apart from the typical rock instruments we can hear the oriental sounds, acoustic guitars and saxophone in some places) and vocally (pure rock voice dominates, but richly used backing vocals, also in some places female vocals, also digital melodeclamations).

The guitarist plays dynamically, creates different moods with sounds. His inspiration BLACK SABBATH manifests itself in many moments. He can also use the aforementioned acoustic guitar, play various solos. The singer sings with gusto, in places I hear inspired by Ian Gillan and elsewhere by Chris Cornell. The bassist and drummer don’t stand out.

In addition to the dominant sharp climates, we also have heavy and dark fragments, as well as ballad ones, and even in jazz style, swinging introduction to the track “The Uphill Climb”. The same song ends with the original combination of “sabbath” riffs with a saxophone. On the other hand, the track “The Search Will Never End” contains Middle Eastern trance music.

So as you can see on the album, there is a lot to choose from. JERKSTORE is honest, unfake music, full of life. Despite the sad themes of some of the songs, the message is positive and energizing. The Danes are definitely great at concerts, the whole audience is jumping and waving their heads. The newest JERKSTORE album is intended more for rock fans than for orthodox metalheads.
