Cool songs: The Empty Flow
In October 2000, Matti and Janne came up with an idea, to form a band, which would play slow, almost dreamlike material. It did not last long to find a vocalist and other musicians, so after a while, they began working upon some material, and that is how Empty Words Excursion was brought to life. Someplace Else is its continuation an a second full-length album.
This music is very poetic, romantic even, and this will definitely attract the connoisseurs of ambitious sound. Mysterious guitars a la MARILLION build the poetic atmosphere, together with the chary keyboards. It is audible and visible from the beginning, that this music is only for listening. There is no material power, because the sound is of no metal origin. It is rock, sometimes of psychedelic feature, close to ARCHIVE, but the lyrics are yet another story. Pessimistic and melancholic texts, creating a love let down atmosphere. But everything performed nicely, so that it easily enters the mind. Sometimes there is an impression, that the songs sound pretty much alike, and it is not a false one, because they all have the same leading motif, later on embellished with different, rock-like ideas. Therefore a small melancholy, to listen with your girlfriend during a romantic, candle-atmosphere dinner.
SHAM RAIN should be placed somewhere else, but everyone sometimes needs a change. Their music is very beautiful and touchy, but on the other hand, gets boring from song to song. All in all, it depends on you. And remember, it is not a warning, neither a recommendation.
