MERCENARY, SLAYER JAM

A tuesday night in may was Mercenary (Denmark's newest hope) playing in my hometown, and i was of course present that. But first we kicked the night of with Slayer Jam. They are a young promising band, that really delivers the goods as Slayer would have done. One of their guitarplayers has rehearsed how too acts as Kerry King. He looked just like him when he tried too headbang moving all of his in the Kerry King fashion. Thumbs up for that. Otherwise they played the classix like Angel of death, Raining blood, Show nomercy and other classix. Unfortunately they played too much newer stuff, which didn't suit them at all, cause the audience wanted to hear the old stuff. But after more than a hour of headbanging and enjoyment of the slayer material they were done.

After that came Denmark's new metal hope (according the metal magazines). Mercenary from Jutland has progressed a lot since they started out. They have singer. The old one which has the typical death metal growl and a singer in the Hammerfall style. They started with 3 numbers from the new album. They were damn good, but unfortunately they did some old songs after that and the quality was definetly lowered after that. Standard old school death metal with melody with a touch of melody, which we have heard a millions times, and better performed as well. After that i got a bored, which really are a shame after the 3 great opening tracks which were splendid mix between power/trash and gothic. So after the next album they will defunetyly improve so they can leave all the old standard material out of the set.
