RUNEMAGIC – Interview with Nicklas

Hello my friend. I am Andrew. How are you? How do you feel with a new album from Runemagick?

Hello! We feel great about “Darkness Death Doom”! It became the way we wanted it to be. Heavy, dark and groovy!!!

I think that after leaving Century Media you found a better sound. Maybe a sound that suits you most. “Darkness Death Doom” is a very interesting album that shows a different face Runemagick have. Is this sound something that came normal or you wanted to experiment on your music?

This was the sound we wanted to have for this album. It fits the music and Runemagick. You always learn new things after each album and hopefully every album gets better and better both in sound and material.

Why you decided to use this title for the album. Is this is a simple and obvious way to describe your music or there is a “hidden” meaning?

We think that the title describes the songs and lyrics perfectly, that's the only reason.

Are you satisfied with the production of the album? You recorded it in your studio, Magick Sound, right? Would you like to change something in it?

Yes we are satisfied and it's recorded at Magick Sound Studio (my own) except for the drums that we recorded at Los Angered Recording. So far I don 't like to change anything.

When you releases “Requiem.” you had told me that you would release a new full length in April 2003 and you were so close. Of course there was the release of “Moon of the chaos eclipse” in the meantime but you were so accurate in the date! Do you always work with a plan?

It's always good to have a plan, which makes me work with more focus. We'll see if the next album will come in April 2004.

Tell me a few words about the lyrics of the album.

They are quite dark as always and I think it's best for the listener/reader to build their on worlds of the lyrics.

What are the reviews you have received for your new album up till now?

Mostly good ones and that are great since we play quite un-commercial and underground music.

Do you watch the underground scene of your country and generally worldwide? Do you have to tell me any upcoming band from Sweden to try to listen to?

I try to keep my ears open but I have not listened to any new bands for a while now. Ocean Chief is a cool doom/rock band from Sweden.

Give at least one reason why someone should prefer to buy your album than any other release of our days?

It doesn't sound like a clone band record and you must discover the darkness death and doom of Runemagick!!

What about the other bands Runemagick's members are into?

We listen to a lot of music like Doom, Slugde, Darkwave, Industrial, Death, Thrash, Ambient.. There are a lot of good bands out there!

If you had the chance to perform a live show with a band of your choice which would that be? Even from bands that does not exist anymore because I know you adore Coroner!
