DEVISER – Interview with Nick

Hello my friend. I am Andrew. Not a year after “Running Sore” we can find another Deviser cd on the stores. Do you think the time of this release is the appropriate?

Hello Andrew, thanx for this interview. I wish the best for you and Bleeding Chaos. Yes, i think it is the right time for this release. After 8 years thy blackest love demo is a cult release. It was a release that every metal fan remembers until now and a lot of people have hard time searching unable to find this classic release. For us this release is a biography from deviser you can see the band from 1989 until now. All the history. The early years and something more unreleased tracks, hidden secrets from deviser.

So, here we have your “Thy Blackest Love” demo, the promo you released back in 1999 only for labels, “Forbidden Knowledge” in a demo version and “Into his Unknown” from a promo tape of yours of 1992. I think “Thy Blackest Love” is essential to be heard from your fans. What about the other tracks…did you choose them because some of them are unreleased and that would be a reason for someone who has already bought “Thy Blackest Love” to buy this release?

Thy blackest love the early years cd includes : thy blackest love (demo 1995 original) 3 songs, 3 songs from promo 1999 (descend among the damned demo version), forbidden knowledge here is the first version back in 1996 and into his unknown from a promo tape 1992. Total 8 songs .We choose this tracks because we think is ok. I think a lot of people want to hear some unreleased songs and learn more about deviser. This tracks is important for all our fans and for someone who want to learn about us.

I may be wrong but I think you had released a demo tape back in 1990 called “Forbidden Knowledge” with 2 tracks included there: “Unnatural evolution” and “Mangled torso”. Either I am right either some trader has fooled me! Have you ever released this demo or these songs I have are some rehearsals or something else?

Yes of course back in 1990 we released forbidden knowledge demo, two tracks includes in this tape unnatural evolution and magled torso. Matt h. played guitars, bass and vocals, Thanos (varatron) played drums and Perris from Asfyx played guitar, synths, vocals. I think your trader is ok guy. Also in 1989 we released psychic completion demo tape with tracks included the result of debacle and in the middle of nowhere. Matt played all the organs and Dimitris Argyrakis from Dimension Z played drums. This two demo released only in underground scene before 14 years .also the revelation of higher mysteries 7ep released in 94 from teutonic existence rec. Now is sold out also.

The production of this re-release is very good even if you have not re-record the songs. I also liked the booklet a lot and especially the amazing front cover. Are you satisfied with all these details of the album?

Generally i'm satisfied with this release. I like the production which reminds me the old black days and i also like the front cover ,its dark and very close to the title of cd. Now in booklet i think it is ok but i would like some more pictures and details. The booklet includes more than 20 pictures, some details from the band and a small bio of the band.

Most of your fans consider your debut as your best album and this is where I belong too. What do you think? In your opinion which is Deviser's best album? Please answer me not as a member of Deviser but as a metal fan.

I like all of our cds. It is very difficult for me to answer, but i will try. I  think unspeakable cults is my favorite cd. It was my first record and favorite also. Unspeakable is my first evil child.

Let's talk about “Running Sore”. What are the reviews you have received about it up till now? Did people accept the use of violin in your music or you had negative comments about it?

We have a lot of good reviews about running sore, in Greece and abroad also. I'm very satisfied about this. I think people also accept the use from violin in our music by the best way. A lot of people want more violin in our new songs .we accept a lot of mails daily from fans etc. In our new songs you can hear a lot of parts with violin. I think its very dark and very dreamy. In our new songs i can feel the total darkness and magical moments that violin gives.

A year after that release you have listened to the album more carefully. Would you now change anything in it?

After almost one year of running sore release, i can say that i'm satisfied with this album maybe i would change something like some synth parts or maybe a re-mastering. No one is satisfied 100% .Generally the band is satisfied with the production, cover, artwork etc.

You have performed many live shows in Athens during the last months with underground bands. Do you watch the underground scene of Greece? Do you think there are any bands that can release something really good in the future?

At the period that running sore released we started a Greek tour all over Greece from Creta (Chania rock festival-udo,anathema,valleys eve) to Salonica, Patra, Agrinio (septic flesh) , Athens (tiamat ,lacuna coil) etc. More than 15 performance all over Greece in 2003. In our plans is more lives event for the next year. Yes i watch the underground scene and i think is very good. We have a lot of good releases like septic flesh (summerian deamons) ,horrified, rotting christ, etc. I believe that bands like rotting or septic can release something real good in near future.

I have seen you live only once in the era of your debut in a festival that was held at Argos where you had played along with Epidemic and Depression. Whenever I want to come to a concert of yours something happens! What should I expect from a live performance of Deviser of 2003?

You should except a new metal year with a lot of live performances a new album and of course a lot of music. Deviser prepared for the new attack. Beware.

That's all my friend! No more questions. I wish you the best for the future and you can close the interview the way you like…

Thanks Andrew for this interview, i wish the best for Bleeding Chaos and you. Hail to all deviser fans, support the underground and the Hellenic scene!!!!
