Cool Songs: The Crown of the Serpentine King, A burning army

Polish's musical black meal scene is improving everyday. From Behemoth to Graveland and to our here-now band, “Abused Majesty”

Abused Majesty is Polish black/death metal band that don't sound like any other Polish black metal band. I see that somehow this band is approaching to the style called “Blackened death metal” and it means when a black metal band ends up with the death metal style. Abused Majesty, actually, mix between black and death metal at the same time.

For me, black/death metal needs special vocals and playing talents. Too bad there are many bands nowadays think they “play” black/death metal, while actually they can hardly “touch” their instruments. The vocal should maintain strong from song to song, knows how to switch from range to range, and he/she must have variety to sing brutal. Not only grunts or only growls. The playing, must be done in a certain way, with wide collective mind , not only limited in Black/death metal.

Here, Abused Majesty, has achieved many things to stand on the black/death metal ground. Our vocal(s) impressed me with his/their strong voice(s). I guess he/they managed to approve my idea. He got variety of voice ranges. He growled, and manage to scream out with grunts.

The most player that stands out -specially- in death/black metal are the guitarist(s), but for me is different. In my point of view, is the drummer. The drummers' style of playing can't be found in any other genre…almost impossible. He is fast, blasting his instrument. So I believe that the drummer is -should be- the one with lights here.

They brought different sense, a rare new blood….”The Keyboardist”. I guess I didn't see a permanent keyboardist in a black/death metal band before.. and even if there are, they must be totally professional and know how to supporting the vocals…Of course there are keyboards in any bands….but that guys is so cool….

The idea of the album is based on “Myth:. It's based on an old Slavic legend of a mythical king of serpents. A cool idea which helped the album to be more attractive.

Finally, Don't try to compare them to their fellow Polish band, “Behemoth” coz you won't find any resemblance. Our band, here, have managed to walk on the same road, maybe, but with their own shortcuts and streets they have carved with their hands.
