SERPENTEENS formed in 1995 by Gee and Mark, is a band strongly influenced by past horror shows and movies, plus a hint of science-fiction scene. Their first project, titled ‘Dead Men Walking’ was a four tracked demo, where Gee and Mark took the whole burden on their shoulders (singing, playing the instruments, etc.). ‘Superhuman Monstershow’ is their newest release.

The first sounds indicate that somebody has been strongly influenced by THE RAMONES, MISFITS and ALICE COOPER. And I mean it! This short album is a fantastic CD for any kind of party, fuelled by gallons of beer and naked ladies. This classic rock’n’roll with strong punk tendencies is a kind of tribute to the bands mentioned above. The sound is good, ideas also, but we’ve all heard it before. For example, THE RAMONES recorded a dozen of similar albums (maybe not in content), and I do not think that there is an urgent need for such play, even of a different brand. The music is pretty old-fashioned, and will please only the most stubborn rockers, or fans of films by Tarantino and Rodriguez, which in fact I am. Classic riffs and lazy drum fills are really archaic. Only the acoustic ‘Tonight’ is something which easily pours into the ear.

The rest is nice, although bores a bit. I’d rather listen to BLUE OYSTER CULT, at least they were more… alive. But for long and hard parties, choose THE SERPENTEENS. You will not regret and maybe something spooky will happen?
