Cool songs: Escape the Machine, Without a Soul

Rich Davis and Chris Lembach are the creators of the band not so long ago. SHIFT is composed of musicians taken from bands such as: MYSTIC-FORCE, CYPHER and DEADLOCK. ‘Creating a Monster’ is their debut album, released in the form of a digi pack, which can be bought on their official website.

This album is nothing but an attempt to appeal to the younger generation, fascinated by nu-metal productions. At the first sight the album sounds quite heavy and strong, but after the first two compositions, the power is beginning to vanish. All that is left, is the hard guitar play. The compositions have been thought over, are creative, they do not overlap, and the whole is quite compact. It is good, that some progressiveness appears in this music – sound and motif changes work in plus. But all in all, the album is not as fun, as some people say.

I believe, that the time has come, a time for a slight shift. SHIFT are a young band (at least considering their album works), and despite of being experienced musicians, they need to develop their style. It is obvious, that their aim is to attract young rockers, who like MUDVAYNE or some LINKIN PARK stuff. That is good. But this does not mean, that they can serve them medium class material.
