It's not stoner in the same way as Kyuss but these Swedish guys kick out quite a jam. The music is 70s influenced but there is a little touch of metal and hardcore in their sound, guess it's the Cathedral-sounding production. Nothing really new here, but this kind of music always gets you in a mood to party… yeah baby! (For those needing references: Cathedral, Atomic Bitchwax, Chainsaw, Nine…and Black Sabbath.) Funny thing is that the guys have stolen the main riff from Danzig's “Am I Demon?” that I guess Danzig stole from some Black Sabbath song… kinda interesting how riffs travel around the world and through the decades!
The only thing that's not quite my cup of tea is the vocals. Mixing Ozzy, Wino of The Obsessed and Lee Dorian of Cathedral just doesn't turn me on… it gets a little monotone.
8 out of 10… a good 8 tracker.
P.S. The guys recorded the material at Hit Parade Studio… my band Watershed used the studio for one demo…small world, isn't it?
