DIO „Master of the Moon”

DIO „Master of the Moon” - okładka

Well here we go again with the start of another chapter in the carrier of the great Ronnie James Dio. This disc comes hot off of the heels of probably one of the best cd”s from him in the last ten years (KILLING THE DRAGON). I think that Dio has come full circle with the last release and this one due to going back to the old school sound. This disc has plenty to offer but the listener has to give it more then a couple listens to get everything from it due to there being so many sounds on it. Every track is a little different in its own right but all stands on there own and do so strongly. There are a few tracks on the disc that could have been saved for MAGICA PT 2 as well as a couple that could have come from DIO's Sabbath days. Over this entire disc is heavier in the music since then the last but not in a fast since but in a thicker vain. We see the return of Craig Goldie on guitar so right there that brings back the MAGICA sound to a degree. Jeff Pilson shows himself on this disc but only for the recording with Rudy Scarzo coming in for the tour but as with and disc that Pilson appears on the Bass work is strong and solid. The keys on this disc are subtle but just enough there to be heard as an accent to the rest of the band and coming in last but not least is Simon Wright on drums. Simon has been with Dio for a while now and is really showing why Dio has him in the band for his foundation is strong and heavy and lays a great bottom end to the classic Dio sound. Over all this is a very good disc but as I said early on the listener will have to give it a few spins to get everything from it. The more you listen to this disc the better it gets. This is another must have for all hard core Dio fans and the best thing is it shows that Dio still has a lot to offer the metal community. All hail the dragon slayer Ronnie James Dio.
