GODHEAD „Evolver”

This CD really took me by surprise. I've heard a couple of tracks from their first album “2000 Years of Human Error” (released in 2001) and I really hated their Marilyn Manson-like boring electro-rock. But what do we have hear? A great album from a great American band. The songs are full of references to electronic music, rock and nu-metal. The choruses are often very strong and remind a lot of Linkin Park and the heavier choruses of Incubus (or Audiovent). The “oldest” influences are Nine Inch Nails and Faith No More but that are just influences because Godhead's music is more commercial and not as twisted. The music isn't actually that far from the accomplishments of Filter because the guitars and vocals are the most important ingredients in the style of the band. The electro-stuff is there only to make it all more interesting. In some way the guys also include some parts that remind a lot of Alice In Chains.

The vocals are great on this album and what comes to mind is Mike Patton's sane moments in Faith No More and the guy from From Zero. I'm a sucker for melodies and great vocals and Godhead deliver it all!

Godhead show the world that they are a great rock band and I am fully satisfied. I guess that they realized that they didn't have to offer that much in their former incarnation… sell-outs? No way! These guys have just found their true style I believe. Congratulations!!!
