This time the Defense Records gives to our hands the split of two thrash bands, Polish – SOUL COLLECTOR, and Canadian – REANIMATOR (do not confounded with the English RE-ANIMATOR)…
SOUL COLLECTOR exist already about eight years on the Polish scene and they have a smaller publications, outside of the album “Thrashmageddon” from 2014… But on the split there are 4 new songs in the style of strong, fast, energetic, lively and melodic Thrash Metal, which themes can be associated with OVERKILL, ANNIHILATOR, FORBIDDEN, and other similar… So there is a lot of technical licks and solos that harmonize with heavy and dynamic riffs. Of course SOUL COLLECTOR has an interesting asset in the form of singer, whose the timbre and style of singing is similar to Bobby Ellsworth from OVERKILL. However, on these high altitude of his voice (in the style of hoarse falsetto) is not very well. The vocal of Rafal Halamoda isn’t as it should be. But in spite of all, this way of his singing is interesting (referring to the many Thrash bands from the 80s of the last century). Overall, fans of technical Trash playing (with a bit of humorous approach to they work) will not be disappointed…
The second representative of Thrash Metal is Canadian REANIMATOR. They exist a few years longer than their predecessors. The band released among other materials – two albums “Ignorance Is No Excuse” in 2009 and “Horns Up” in 2015 years… The songs included on the split come from the last two materials of the team. So they promote their previous accomplishments in the Polish market… From the very beginning of listening you can hear Thrash Metal of REANIMATOR is different… This is more aggressive, predatory and less melodic. The singer “sings” more aggressive… They are closer to the style of TESTAMENT, KREATOR and SLAYER… Although in this technical playing is not lacking the melodic solos and even the lively crossover motives (or if you prefer Punk-Core)… REANIMATOR also should satisfy thrashers hungry of heaviness and dynamic melodies.
The interesting thing is that both bands, although they play Thrash Metal, they are stylistically different from themselves. This shows the richness and diversity of style which is Thrash Metal.
