NILE, HYPOCRISY, SOILENT GREEN, RAGING SPEEDHORN

B.B. Kings has certainly become THE place for Death Metal in NYC. This show was kind of an interim show for me, something to tide me over till the Kreator / Napalm Death show in a few weeks. I'm not too big on Nile or Soilent Green, but Hypocrisy is good and a rare chance to see Raging Speedhorn sent me under the river from Jersey on a tuesday night to NYC. It was an early opening, so I missed WITH PASSION, and caught the end of DECAPITATED'S set. They were good. Got the circle going on the floor. I love RAGING SPEEDHORN, but I don't think too many others knew who they were. They were awesome. A very energetic band from Colby, England. They did more old stuff than new, which was o.k. They did “Dead Man Walking”, so I was happy. Soilent Green was next and I'm not a big fan of the New Orleans sound except for GOATWHORE, but SOILENT GREEN has the singer from GOATWHORE, so they were o.k. They did “Slapfuck” from their first album which kicked ass. HYPOCRISY was amazing. Hell Yeah!! They opened with “War-Path”. It was awesome. “Eraser” followed and “Fire In The Sky”. They kicked freakin' butt!! They did “Scrutinized” from the newest one and of course “Roswell 47”. They ended it all with “Let the Knife Do The Talkin'” They were amazing!! I'm not much of a NILE fan. They opened with “The Blessed Dead” and I was already on my way out at that point. Just not a fan of theirs.
