I received this album surprisingly. And what was my surprise when I saw whose music presents this album. YOSSI SASSI! – producer, composer, guitarist and founder of Israeli ORPHANED LAND … Yossi decided to release his first solo album! Well, who love the work of ORPHANED LAND, and especially the music of high level , full of virtuosity, climatic arrangements with a lot of ethnic elements then probably you also will love “Melting Clocks”.

The album contains 12 songs – with very complex subjects, which are a mix of Oriental Rock / Metal, traditional music, ethnic and Progressive Rock. So, here we will hear many climatic melodies, solos, serves and complex rhythms which seamlessly interweave themselves and they complement the music creating the very spacious, climatic Rock, which is strongly inspired by the spirit of the Middle East, which is underlined by oriental musical scales but also by traditional instruments of type: Saz, Bouzouki, Oud, Chumbush. However “Melting Clocks” is still a Rock, a very progressive with the guitars. Here sometimes is very balladic, in other time the songs are so lively and even the music goes to Metal's areas together with the heavier licks and riffs. The elements of Blues and Jazz also appear here…

Marty Friedman has left his mark on the album as guest playing solos. In fact, the majority of album is instrumental and it contains the many sounds (acoustic and electronic), the many unearthly solos and the guitar's arpeggios and even the chords. Although the songs (with vocals) also have their place on this album. And these are the sung tracks without growls and screams – rather calm and nostalgic singing in style of Blues-Rock or ethnical vocals.

The album “Melting Clocks” is brilliant, showing a perfect fusion of Rock music with the music of the Orient.
