Italy is not a country, which is producing astonishing amounts of good metal bands. It is weird, because Italy is one of the biggest countries in Europe but think it over – how many metal bands from Italy You know, and how many from smaller countries, for example Scandinavian, or Middle-Eastern Europe? Well I don't want to wonder about that, especially that I am writing this text in different goal – Some time ago I received EGOMASS promo, which comes from country of Petrarch and Ovid, more specifically – Sardinia.

I was interested in them when I had encountered information for some reason. First is that They play technical death/thrash, and second is that They were advertised as spiritual continuing of Atheist, for whom I have some personal fondness. But down to the bussiness – EGOMASS is not continuing any Atheist ideas. But in the other hand they show to the listener their own approach to crossover between thrash and death metal. It can be called technical, but don't expect anything like Necrophagist, Obscura or Arsis. There is no avalanche of solos, breaking tempos or jazz parts. If I had to liken EGOMASS to something – it would be Italian too Sadist. Good riffs backed up with very nice rythm section we can see for example in opening act for album – Conscienza Due. But I have mixed feelings when it comes to bass. It is not hearable decently. I understand, that not everyone has to play like DiGorgio, Choy or Thesseling – at first place, but in quartet with one guitar band should avoid situations, when guitar and bass play the same melody. It is not a big problem, because most of compositions are good, but it has been noticed heh. Another thing is vocals/lyrics – they are in italian, not very logical if band is seeking international attention. Personally for me it doesn't matter, I don't listen to lyrics anyway. On this album we can find two tracks from previous demo of EGOMASS – “Promo 06” and in my opinion these tracks, recorded from scratch along with first track are best killers on this release – read most technical and gaining my attention. I don't say other are bad, album is solid, but You can notice that when band was writing different tracks, was paying attention to different parts. Worth mentioning is fact, that this is first release mastered at proffesional studio, and that is good. I can't imagine technical death recorded in a garage…

All in all – we have band, which have their own direction of development, have nice musical workshop and is able to compose catchy tracks. Nothing to left, except waiting how their musical career will set off.
