KIUAS (the Finnish for a stove used in sauna) was formed in 2000 and from the beginning they used clean vocals with death metal. Everything has been sprinkled with an amount of heroic power, and that is how their style consolidated. Today, they are one of more popular power pagan/mythological metal band in Finland, creating material supported by the Finlands almighty Spinefarm Records.
KIUASs first full-length material is a fantastic mix, showing their tendency of creating hybrids of melodic death and power metal. The material is therefore pulverizing, combined according to two principles: death and pure power. Death metal gives is powerful aggression and wrath, with which it feeds the ears and minds of the listeners. Magnificent guitars row heavily and do not stop even for a moment. Power metal supports the material with multi-melodic features, which embellish it and change its taste. Some progressive elements a la SAVATAGE help to put this music in the right place on the shelf, somewhere in between of CHILDREN OF BODOM or MORS PRINCIPIUM EST, SAVATAGE and MASTERPLAN. Pretty catchy riffs absorb for hours, rhythmical sections force to hum the melody, and the developed but not obese and abused keyboards contribute to the whole, by providing some noble tunes. Surely, there is nothing to pick on.
The Spirit of Ukko is the album the world has been waiting for, which is full of almost child-like energy, mature and ripe content, allowing to fly away. With strong character and very heavy fist, which rams everything down.
