Cool songs: The Ruiner, Insomnia, Eal

EMPYRIOS was formed in 2002 by Mularoni and Mastroianni, who wanted to… create something different in the metal panorama, by combining the technical and melodic aspects of progressive metal with powerful thrash metal assault. Where did I see that… or hear? Never mind.

The beginning of the album leaves the taste rather unsatisfied, the strange manner of vocals and quite chaotic play are not a good omen. But moving further, the album stops to annoy and begins to seduce with its variety. Electro-symphonic parts in ‘The Ruiner’ just push it up into the sky. The raw guitar (and its hoarse and heavy riffs), solid drums, pathetic keyboards and that strange vocal, create a dark atmosphere. I do not know if the guys wanted to achieve that, but they made me feel quite… black. Somewhere the melody is being lost and copying of one’s ideas takes the lead. Another bad information. But the solos and acoustic elements (marvelous piano parts) manage to save the album.

The songs are not brilliant, will not change the world or the way people think. But allow us to listen to this music with pleasure. And that is actually everything… listen once or twice, and leave it.
