This chaotic release by APRIL can leave the potential fan with mixed feelings. The reason is that, because this album crawls from one extreme to another. From the technical point of view, it is undoubtedly very good: it is mixed well, the riffs are very heavy , the solos ear catching, everything co-operates nicely. But the ideas used by the band can sometimes leave with a feeling of misunderstanding. For example, there is Soul of Elimination which should not have been placed here, and on the other hand we have got Colourblind which is far better than the previous four songs put together. The guitar play sounds like power or heavy metal, but the rest does not allow us to mistake the genres. The strong vocal line also changes often, from audible and comprehensible singing, to totally non-understandable yell. Also there is a feeling, that the guitarists were stuck with only one or two riffs, which repeat very often throughout the album. Fading deserves a further note, because it is a totally new composition, one hundred percent different from the previous compositions, the only acoustic song. That unplugged sound is its power and great style.
This album is a kind of mixture: of genres, ideas, concepts, etc. it is a pity, that some weaker parts slid into the whole and they sometimes dominate the better elements, which are trying hard to defend the album. Tidelines is like our life: some days are better, there are some worse, and it depends on us, which ones will we remember, and from which will we draw a lesson.
