NOCTUARY Statement on Band's Ending

Joe Van Fossen, guitarist and vocalist of NOCTUARY, issued the following statement via the group's MySpace page:

“This is a hard thing for me to write, but I feel many of you deserve a more complete explanation. By now you've probably seen the “final Noctuary shows” announcements and were left in wonderment. Noctuary is, in fact, disbanding after 11 years, 3 albums, and countless live spectacles. This does not mean you won't hear from us in the future, but as of September 3rd – Sep 2nd El Paso being our final show – our status will officially be inactive.

Over the past 11+ years we've met some great friends, fans, and have shared amazing times in the studio and on the road. We've grown and matured as musicians together and our collective creativity knows no bounds. However, circumstances have presented themselves which would hinder our progress and focus indefinitely. Along with Jeff moving away, other responsibilities and obligations have waned on our motivation.

That being said… never fear, we aren't going away completely. We still intend to record our final album, The Grand Design, sometime in the not-so-distant future. You will be able to catch Rob and Steve playing with their death/black metal project Winterthrall (www.myspace.com/winterthrall). Rob will also be performing and recording with his grinding side-project DespiseYou (www.myspace.com/dxyx). One day we'll be able to see Jeff's work on the silver screen, as he's moving to Florida to pursue his passion in the film industry. As for me, I have some things in the planning stages, but nothing worth writing about at this point in time.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say it has been an amazing ride. And though there will be a more detailed list of all the people who have helped us along the way, I wanted to go ahead and say thanks to all who have supported us, in one way or another, over the years!

Horns High!

Joe and Noctuary”
