NOVACT formerly known as Morgana-X are a Dutch speciality. No, I am not speaking of chesse, but of the new band from the Netherlands that has just released ist debut album for us Germans and the rest of the world.

This album blinks because of the many facets of several elements of hard rock, but mainly Progressive Metal that fits very well with the classical elements. Especially “Hope and fear” reminds me on the S &M album of Metallica.
In time you can hear that there is someone spezial responsible for the vocal part: Eddy Borreman. Finally a new singer who brings fresh wind into the dust of the clean metal vocals. Because of the many different facets of his voice, Eddy is able to give warmth to the mostly cold Progressive Metal and therefore he is able to give sympathy and pushes away the cool electronics which are typical for that genre. Furthermore Eddy knows how to feel the songs and to interprete them.

NOVACT have already been compared with Dream Theater, Rush, Pain of Salvation and Vanden Plas. And you definitely CAN compare them with those bands mentioned before.

The five guys could already play live: They did that at last year´s Headway Festival and also the Progpower Europe 2004.

Friends of Progressive Rock/Metal, here is something new for you. Very recommendable, because it is not too difficult for your ears, but anyway this album has a very good niveau. Very nice sound, a good production that is picked with a bit of myths that lets you sink down in any of the songs.

note: 7,5/10
