1998 – FREEDOM CALL was born. This time everybody thought, it was just another project. But in the meantime FREEDOM CALL could fight for – a ver good – position in the metal world and they could keep it! The German guys are established in the scene due to many live shows: For example tours with Saxon, Angra and Edguy as well as single concerts in several countries. A tour through Europe is planned already: spring 2005.

Played by drummer Dan Zimmermann, singer Chris Bay, keyboardist Nils Neumann, Ilker Ersin on the bass guitar and Sascha Gerster´s substitute Cede Dupont on guitars we have the 4th album in our hands. Name: The Circle of Life.
Unfortunately this album is too easy to categorise. FREEDOM CALL can be mentioned without any problems together with Gamma Ray, Heavenly and Edguy.

Sometimes they remind me on covered Dream Evil. And unfortunately I cannot find any speciality. That doesn´t have to be bad. Because everything goes straight into your ears and mind. Maybe just a bit to easy to foresee. And therefore too boring after a few listening sessions. But I am totally into the guitar riffs!

Singer Chris sometimes reminds me a bit too much on Kai Hansen. Sometimes, his very light voice is nerv-racking. With the choirs and the funny dancing beat in combination with the guitars the whole thing often is involuntarily ridiciulous. I have got a very parted opinion and I actually still don´t know what I shall think about that stuff… The guitars are really fat! The solos and the riffings! And often I like Chris voice. But I cannot find anything good on those choirs. Gamma Ray fans: get it!

note: 7/10
