LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE „Ave End”

Lacrimas Profundere is one of my favorite bands and even many people blame them of copying Anathema I still believe that their sound is very original and if you have listened to only one of their songs it will be easy to recognize the style of the band. Their previous release “Fall, I Will Follow” was a very good one and as I had written in its review it was the only album they could release after “Burning: A Wish”. Unfortunately things here are very different.

I want to make clear that I don’t consider “Ave End” a bad album! It is ok but not for Lacrimas Profundere. The band changed its style to modern rock with some melodic parts. To be honest, they now remind me of Him and a little bit of Paradise Lost and “One Second” album. The feeling of grief and melancholy that was more than obvious in their previous releases is gone now and it has been replace by easy listening songs with perfect duration for air play. I have to admit that the last 4 songs of the album are really good but without the breaks that Lacrimas Profundere used to have.

My opinion is that Lacrimas Profundere are trying to approach (and) another audience and even if I can understand this I do not like it! So, with a few words, if you like soft rock and bands like Him then you may find your next favorite band but if you are a fan of the previous releases of Lacrimas Profundere I believe you will get disappointed as I did.
