Winterfell are a band that hail from York Pennsylvania and are a four piece outfit. They where nice enough to send me a copy of there four song demo for review and I am glad they did. The band consists of Robb Graves (vocals), Andy Graven (Guitars), Jason Nadeau (bass), James Irvine (drums). All I can say is WOW. For a local band of this age they are great but that does not mean that they do not have some work to do. The first thing that impressed me about this disc is the over all sound and how clean it is for a four song demo. These guys put some hard work into this disc and it shows. These guys must have been influenced quite a bit by ICED EARTH for there overall sound is focused in that direction.
When listening to this disc it puts into mind the Burny offerings era of ICED EARTH but not quite as polished. Robb Graves has a future as a metal singer for he brings to mind a cleaner Matthew Barlow of ICED EARTH. The music here is very well written and very well performed. Plenty of good riffs and plenty of great hooks that catch you and keep you held all the way thru this four song demo. This band will go places and know what they are doing. This demo runs a play time of 27.58 so this is not your normal three min song demo. I am looking forward to seeing this band live very soon and cant wait to see what they can do in the future.
