TENT FESTIVAL – AXXIS, WAYWARD

Nearly 3 hours of driving the car in direction to Augsburg (driving the wrong way inclusive… It would be not the same when it went different…) and then finally found the venue. Parking and then going to the supermarket. We killed the time in the car and said “hello” to a few buddies. Together we entered the front row and together we rocked! There comes something to my mind: Every first row looks nearly the same when Axxis play.

This we did while Wayward were on stage. Punctually at 8 pm they started with a cool intro. They sounded well while having the soundcheck. But what they gave us on stage was great! The six guys from Munich/Germany rocked like a hurricane, although I didn´t know any of their songs. Ok, that “Hot Stuff”-Cover from Donna Summer was not that good. But I could live with that, when I think that the boys played Britney Spears´ “Hit me baby one more time”. They could have saved it to themselves! Britney´s song is already shit, but with that version Wayward fucked up that song! Instead of that they should have played a further Wayward song.

Singer Mark is very likeable, a great frontman and entertainer, who knows how to act with his audience: “Applause is the artist´s bread and I am HUNGRY!!!” A ballad filled the concert of the Bavarians and when Mark got off his leather jacket, a guy screamed: “Yummy guy!”

Keyboardist Beni had his first live concert with Wayward and he did it very well! Furthermore Wayward convinced with a first class songwriting and great hooks (and a the guys had a great light on stage!).

The Waywards dedicated one song (“Signs”) to one of my friends, Nicky, because she made it possible for the guys to open for Axxis this night – and that they did with a playing time over an hour. Totally: Wayward could convince in all areas…

Axxis were in a very good mood! This is for sure! In the following setlist you can see what Axxis offered to us:

Angel of Death
Lost in the darkness
Brother moon
My little princess
Stay don´t leave me
Little war
Heaven in black
Save me
Let us fight
Trash in Tibet
Touch the rainbow (acoustic)
Fire and ice (acoustic)
Kings made of steel (acoustic)
Wind in the night
Little look back
Kingdom of the night
Ships are sailing !
Shadowman !
Flashback radio
Living in a world
Na, na, na goodbye

New songs on the setlist were „Ships are sailing“ and „Shadowman“ which enlarged the normal setlist!
Because Axxis came down to Herbertshofen about 10 years ago, they could mesmerize their audience immediately. I ,personally, can say, this was the best Axxis gig ever so far! (Even, if singer Berny said that he liked the concert in Calw one week ago better.)

Horns everywhere. I haven´t seen that at an Axxis concert so far!

And again a young lady was able to sing with Berny on stage: Sunny. Nobody knows how to use that rattle thing on stage (except Berny himself). But Sunny was the firing. Every minute against the drums. Andrés face was funny. But everything that´s important is the fun And so Sunny rattled through the acoustic set of „Fire and ice“, „Kings made of steel“ and „Touch the rainbow“. And she wanted to sing “Touch the Humpe” (actually HumpeN, but Humpe without the “n” in the end, because it is a kind of dialect) in any case, whatever that is… After every girl and guy who didn´t come from Herbertshofen had a big questionmark in their faces, everybody screamed – also Axxis did – “Touch the HUMPE”! Afterwards we had the answer: “A Humpen is a big cup or glas! And normally there is beer in it!” Ok, now we know it and we can enthusiastically go on singing „Touch the Humpe“ .

The sound was awesome, the atmosphere great. Much dancing, partying and rocking – and much alcohol. And everybody had great fun and a good time!
Afterwards a regional band played rock cover songs for the rest of the guests (unfortunately those weren´t that much).
Axxis wrote autographs and talked to the fans again. That was great! This time, I went back home earlier than the guys, because I wanted to be at home before the dawn – when you think of the driving of the wrong ways…
