BLUT AUS NORD „The Mystical Beats Of Rebellion”

BLUT AUS NORD „The Mystical Beats Of Rebellion” - okładka

A third release from one of the frontrunners of the French Black Metal scene. The record contains 6 tracks all titled The Fall I to VI. The booklet is…well black. This time round Blut Aus Nord have dropped all of their hymnic Viking pretences and have focused on creating a sick and ugly Black Metal release. The first album “Ultima Thule” contained atmospheric old school Black Metal with a pagan and symphonic touch. The second album “The Father Of The Icy Age” came with a more complex and at the same time hymnic type of nordic Black Metal. The new album comes with very raw, ugly and sick form of Black Metal as I have said previously. The songs are highlighted by simple yet effective riffs that are executed mechanically as if triggered. The mechanical aspect is all but absent in the vocals. These are the best part of the album. They are the sick, repugnant and tortured screams of a hominid creature with a bleak outlook on life.

The tracks are varied enough even though at first listen they may seem a little too monotonous. If I had to compare this to anything I guess it would be Judas Iscariot.

A fine example of raw and sick Black Metal. Dark, evil and nihilistic. No fashion, no pretense.

note: 7.5/10
