The Lost Well, February 25, 2026
The Lost Well is really on fire right now. Since the dive-bar paradise moved to their Airport location, they’ve been packing the bar with people eager to see some of the best artists in the world. Tonight, it would be longtime Relapse Records Goregrind/Death Metal veterans, EXHUMED. The last time I saw EXHUMED, they played on Halloween at the old Red 7 venue (Barricuda was the name, I think?) That was a cool Halloween concert, probably the only Halloween concert I’ve seen. It was the ultimate tribute to Halloween as the group dressed as preps with VCR footage of random violence and gore.
As I pulled up to the small parking lot, I immediately saw friends (Mauro of BONDED BY BLOOD and HEADCRUSHER) walking into the venue. The show started at the early hour of 8. I arrived at 7:30 and there was nowhere to park, so I had to park on a side street. Unfortunately, my tires were slashed along with every other car on the street. There is no suspect, but it ended up costing me money for something that was entirely not my fault. I have to say this worries me a bit about the venue location. It doesn’t seem to have a crime problem, but I’m a bit more weary, now, to park outside the lot. Guess I need to get there during happy hour…
Walking into the place I noticed a great energy. The place was packed, people on the patio shooting the shit, buying tacos from the street truck, drinking beer and smoking THCA. OXYGEN DESTROYER were up first. They came out hard and heavy with the speed of a motorcycle. Yeah, these boys rule, total early KREATOR sound. The drums pounded heavy and fast and the riffs were catchy. The only problem with their set was the mic needed to be turned up. I could barely hear the vocalist. Other than that, they put on a great show and the crowd loved it!

I was outside taking in the 75-degree weather when Redefining Darkness Records artist, NO/MAS started their set. The crowd really started moving with this band. They had great energy and the crowd fed on it. NO/MAS took no prisoners on stage with their mix of GRINDCORE and HARDCORE. Their slamming grooves elicited much arm swinging and giant head bobs. One monster riff had me swinging around like a gorilla. The singer especially exuded pure energy. He was a growling grizzly bear stalking the stage. Never heard of these guys, but I’m a fan now.

While the appetizers were pleasing, the main course was about to start. EXHUMED’s masked henchman came up on the stage with a steering while, which he used to get into a crash with sound effects and everything. It was pretty funny. That’s the thing about EXHUMED, they’re humorous. Their presentations are like the Tromaville of death metal. Once again, EXHUMED used old school TVs to show old school footage. Their title track “Red Asphalt” was especially aesthetically pleasing if you have a dark sense of humor, which this band certainly has (fucking great!) Speaking of the new album, the band played a few of the tracks, which went over very well. That’s another thing about EXHUMED, they haven’t changed much over the years…really, they’ve gotten better with time. “Red Asphalt” is a modern classic that every Death Metal fan should own.
As good as the new material was, many in the crowd wanted to hear early material like “Gore Metal.” “Gore Metal” was a clinic on GOREGRIND, one of the albums which really helped Relapse blow up. Matt Harvey mentioned the next song being the first track of said album, “Necro Maniac.” Ew, this was good shit. The crowd, including me, broke out into a pit. I’m 50 years old but when shit is this good, I’m down to pit. It was a light pit, a nice, polite pit, haha.
EXHUMED were on their game tonight. The dual vocal approach with bassist Ross Sewage growling combined with Harvey’s higher register really helps the band tell their stories, in a gross, violent and purely filthy manner. Also, the trading off guitar leads between Harvey and Sabastian Philips was nothing short of amazing. From intricate melodies to massive wham dives, the guitar duo owned the night. EXHUMED are like the perfect cross between REPULSION and DEATH (Harvey plays in GRUESOME).
Speaking of the bassist, this BWB (Big Wide Broad) was giving me the eye, but her attention soon turned to Ross. Ross stooped over and spit in her mouth. Later on she told me he wouldn’t let her suck his dick. She declined my offer (hangs head low).
Other than the slashed tires, the night was amazing. Good friends, good brews, good THCA, good bands, the Lost Well is really bringing it lately. I just hope they can get enough cops to patrol this area, because the Lost Well is legendary.
Check out visual evidence of their set, including fan pictures. In one picture, guitarist Phillips is with a blood splattered fan (she was hit by a severed head). Also, newly-joined STABBING drummer, Rene Martinez with Mauro Gonzalez of BONDED BY BLOOD/HEADCRUSHER fame.
