I think this is the first band from China playing Thrash Metal, which I have the opportunity to hear… This quartet started operation in 2007 but just in 2018 they released the album “Lords Of Destiny”. Earlier they released two materials like this EP – “Age Of Overload”…
The musicians already have some experience in other bands, like INFERNO REQUIEM, TUMOR BOY, DRESSED TO KILL…
The band’s name – ANCESTOR, the logo and the cover-art perfectly match to the style in which they constantly are from the very beginning, namely they follow the path of the old-school Thrash Metal bands (typical of the 80s of the last century), among others like German giants of this genre at that times, such as KREATOR, SODOM, DESTRUCTION…
The introduction is also classic. The acoustic guitar passages, moody with a dose of darkness and mystery begin the material full of aggressive and dynamic twists… full of vehemence. The aggressively shouted vocals stylistic match to specific thrash-metal compositions dominated by fast tempos, accenting percussion transitions and beats, and of course sharp possessed guitar solos. Although sometimes there are also more melodic accents, slightly slower. However, this is for a short while. Immediately afterwards another thrash-metal thresher appears. In some places the vocals approach the growling which in combination with the blasting themes gives a slightly death-metal tone… and brings associations with PROTECTOR.
A homage to the German thrash-death-metal scene (from last century) turned out to be the almost perfectly played cover PROTECTOR “Holy Inquisition”.
