Metal Music can be interpreted in many ways, like bands such HAYSEED DIXIE or STEVE’N’SEAGULLS, APOCALYPTICA, VAN CANTO. Of course, the most of them play controversial cover-songs. But they also have own songs refering to Metal music by melodies or composition structure.

The Italian trio OTTONE PESANTE creates Metal music in a rather peculiar way by using the trumpet, teh trombone and the percussion! Many of you probably feel anger for thinking about using brass instruments to parody of Metal music. But I assure you this is not parody. The music is very serious and is is able to revive the same amotions what you feel during of listening to Metal. However, this time it will not be Death, Doom or Black Metal but Heavy Brass Metal created by the team!

Heavy Brass Metal is an instrumental-brass melodics supported by the work od drums and this underline the dynamics of the whole. Thanks for this, despite the lack of guitars, the music can be very violent and impulsive in places. Some phrases of brass instruments imitate riffs of a rhythm guitar and in combination with powerful, sometimes blasting drums, they emphasize the inspiration of Metal music, especially its extreme genres. And sometimes, very sporadically are reached horrifying sceams and predatory growls, then the climate is almost Metal (Travis Ryan from CATTLE DECAPITATION was autor of these vocals). Besides, some low sounds of brass instruments sound like distorted guitars.

The thunderstorm of the brass sometimes is such concentrated that music sounds quite psychotic, exposing furious accelerations. Other times, the phrases present massive decelerations and calmer themes but they are dark and overwhelming like a psychedelic and dark symphony. There are also moments of reverie and melancholy, because the music is also atmospheric, a bit like the symphonic Dark Ambient.

At times the climate is very powerful, full of pathos and really apocalyptic. Some motiffs sound like some soundtrack, although other moments also bring associations with circus music and Jazz.

Of course it is music for people with open minds who like music experiments. It made an impression on me!
