Metal bands coming from exotic countries very intrigue me. MYRATH comes from Tunisia and this is one of such bands. The fact of connection of Metal with traditional Arabic music reinforced my interest this band. Once I met similar musical fusion, it was TAIFA. MYRATH climbed to similar level of the fusion because it is the fusion of power metal and of progressive metal tacts with melodies well-kept in Arabic scales as well as with European orchestral insertions. Presented Arabic melodies are played by the guitars and the keyboards but and by the traditional instruments from musicians' family region (like violins, darboka, dof or mezouid). Obviously the names of many instruments tell me nothing (I think these are some percussive instruments and woodwinds). I know only that the band invited Arabic musicians which used these instruments. But these are not only folk accents, because some vocals also are well-kept in Arabic scales and melodies, and moreover the first song of the album “Forever And Day” is in Arabic language and this sounds really exotic.

However MYRATH still is metal band full of energy, guitars heaviness and dynamic rhythms typical for power metal patents rich in monumental melodies. However the varied masterly solos of the guitars and the keyboards as well as the complex rhythmical sections, frequent changes of pace and the musical subjects are the progressive accents here. Additionally the musicians added the motives of symphonic and classic music to the whole. When I listened music MYRATH then I sometimes had some associations with BLIND GUARDIAN, DIO, ORPHANED LAND and DREAM THEATER. However the strong Arabic accents considerably differentiate the band from mentioned bands. The whole is very mature in own creativity and in atmosphere as well as in space. The mood is impregnated by the melancholy mainly (not only in ballads) but and by rapacity.

The producer of the album was Kevin Codfert (from ADAGIO) as well as Stephan Forte (ADAGIO) played one of solos as guest musician. As the curiosity I will give the fact that MYRATH was created in 2001 year by thirteen-year-old boy (!!!).
