The band started working in 1998 as a three piece, playing some epic metal with a little influence of the Estonian folklore. In 2000, when Lauri joined the band, the folk influences were broadened, because he needed some time to learn how to play the traditional Estonian instruments. Terast mis hangund me hinge 10218 is their sixth (second full-length) album. It is a widened version of the same titled demo, released in 1999, containing one additional track.
My word: it is one of the most neutral, although rawest folk metal I have recently heard. The folk sounds and instruments are not abused, the music at the first sight (sic!) can sound a bit uninteresting, but as the disc turns on, the music becomes varied, innovative and very interesting. The whole album is kept in a sailor song convention, in a pirate-way even, with audible associations with RUNNING WILD in Terasetuli, of which guitars sounds as if they were taken from The Privateer. The music is very dynamic and creates a very cool mood, actually I felt as being one of the crew members, the tracks are varied, the motifs change quite often and the technicalities nothing to pick on. It is a kind of artefact.
I have to admit that this album shackled me to my stereo for hours. I sat and listened to it and still, I have not got enough. Well done crew! Argh!
