ARCANAR has been formed by the former musicians of Ekaterinburg bands as AUTUMN and SEKVENTIA. The bands official birthday is told to be the March of 2004 when Dmitry Osadchev joined it, so henceforth they could name themselves as ARCANAR and appear in the metal chronicles. Dusty Lord (Pylnyi Vladyka) was being recorded since June 2005. Eventually, we have an opportunity to listen to this album.
I always thought that Russians can play fantastic music and this album reassured me in this belief. Those 40 minutes of pure death metal with dooming elements create an original release, with pathetic acoustic elements, some folk themes and extremely good sound. That music simply nailed me to my armchair for several hours. The riffs are very heavy and fleshy, do not lack any melody, are not a part of some constant hammering. Also the sound and pace shifts happen very often, not to mention the motifs, which are like a roundabout. All those things create an atmosphere of variety, which does not allow any boredom to enter the scene. Moreover, the ideas do not repeat, so monotony is out of the question. It is a proposition highly recommendable to every death metal fan and other metal maniacs. Everyone will find here something interesting for them. Fantastic guitars and keyboards parts in I Could Be the Other and Insomnia create very pleasant festival, which simply floats from the speakers and fill the room with liquid sound. Argh hell! Make it louder, so that your neighbours could hear it!
Dusty Lord is a good album, which every metal maniac should hear. It is heavy and very raw – and that is what a good piece of metal should sound like. Thanks to such music blood still wants to circulate in veins.
