SEVENTH KEY have been a long time in the business. Their roots go back to the early 80´s, when bassist Billy Greer (QB 1) and the former CITY BOY guitarist (and producer of that disc) Mike Slamer united their forces in the band STREETS. KANSAS singer Steve Walsh and drummer Tim Gehrt joined the line-up. From that day on they had a good career. In the meantime ways split. But in the year 2000, Billy Greer and Mike Slamer returned and founded a band called SEVENTH KEY. The first album was released just one year later. To that time the style of the guys has already been melodic hard rock and so was the self-titled album.

Only two albums („The raging fire“ was released in 2004) and then a DVD/Live CD? Hm, that´s strange… But the well-known SEVENTH KEY (Billy Greer – Vocals and Bass, Mike Slamer – Guitar, Keyboards and Bass, Pat McDonald – Drums, Terry Brock – Guitar and Background Vocals, as well as David Manion – Keyboards) have been on the hitlist of Frontiers Records president Serafino Perugino, and so Mike´s daughter Nicole had the work to do the shooting.

Finally we have a very nice mixed album that nearly sounds like a normal studio album. Because of that the live atmosphere walks away a bit. But anyway, that is compared by the great songwriting. With a playing time of nearly 80 minutes, we have to expect a definitely good cost-performance ratio. The teamwork of the musicians finds its highlight with the work of Robby Steinhardt on the violine and the additional vocals, as well as with the work of Johnny Greer on the mandoline and the vocals. Well done work sounds fluffy. A certain sleaziness can be heard in the songs, but always with a lot of deepness that gives you a creep. A resonant sound, a complete band, clear classification of the instruments, nothing operates overrun. Super! The guys know how to rock! None of the singers has lost his power and elegance.

Listen to the songs „The sun will rise“, „An ocean away“, „Sin City“ or also the wonderful acoustic track „Forsaken“.

As bonuses after the live concert in Atlanta on CD we have further three songs to enjoy („The storm rages on“, „Remember you well“ and „Love train“). On DVD: bonus videoclips, a gallery and also interviews invite us.
