This is a great surprise for me. I was unaware of Forgotten Tomb and I was prepared to listen to another typical black metal band but from the very first notes of Loves Burial Ground I realized that there is something good here.
Forgotten Tomb come from Italy and they started as an one mans band. Herr Morbid was the only man behind the band when they released Obscura Arcana Mortis mcd and their debut album Songs To Leave, two years later. Now the band has a full line up this is their third album release after Springtime Depression of 2003. Heavily influenced by Burzum they present us a great album with a majestic and melancholic feeling. I hadnt met an album like this since the debut release of Ancient Wisdom. They are both in the same style. Some fast parts and vocals ala Vikernes and many depressive and melancholic parts that will remind you of some doom/death bands. The combination of black metal with doom parts and melancholic themes is something really hard to achieve but if you do it the result is amazing in my opinion. I just adore this feeling of hate into grief. And as the band declares This album was written under direct influence of and dedicated to negativity, so all our lyrics and music are nothing but a reflection of her supreme will. I think you got the point.
The copy of the album I got contains two different front covers. A censored and an uncensored one. I dont know which one the band likes most but I think that the censored one is more suitable to their style. The production of the album is very good and I believe if you are into black metal and you like some doom/death bands you will enjoy this album. Forgotten Tomb is one of the very few bands that I will be waiting for their next release with interest.
