God.Fear.None. is a new band from Greece that has been risen from the ashes of Sad Wings and includes members of other Greek metal acts like Stagnate and Wastefall. Envy is their debut album release and I think it will force us to deal with them in the future.
They are in the most popular metal style in USA right now. They combine metal with core elements and fast and thrashy riffs with melodic and technical guitar parts. Just imagine bands like Kill Switch Engage, Shadows Fall, Soilwork and Lamb Of God and youll get the point. One of the most important things in this style is the production and God.Fear.None. managed to have an excellent one. I have to congratulate their label too as even it is a new one, every album they have released till now is excellent in the matter of production and artwork. This is very important as some years ago (and even now sometimes) most debut albums of underground bands being at a disadvantage in production. Back to the music now The strongest parts of this band is the drums and the guitars in my opinion. Kostis Papalexopoulos uses very well his experience form Stagnate and gives another tone to the songs with his playing. Even he is not the fastest drummer of the world or the most technical one, he is just perfect for the style of this band. The guitar parts now are excellent too! Jim Voutsas and Chris Mike constitute a heavy duo that can be very melodic and technical too. And to be honest, I dont know if I would like Envy if there were no melodies and virtuoso solos in it. There are too many bands in this style of music and many of them are good but God.Fear.None. manage to be different with that combination of various metal elements.
I dont think there is a stand out track here as in these 42 minutes there are 10 very good songs that each of them could be a hit one and this is one more plus for the band. If you like this style of music then I would advise you to search for this release and it wont let you down. I just hope they will find the recognition they deserve.
