Forgotten Tales is a new symphonic power metal band from Canada and this is their second album. They had released “The Promise” back in 2001 and now it was time for “All The Sinners”.

What is certain is that the members of the band are good musicians as their skills are obvious in this release. But unfortunately this is not the only obvious thing in Forgotten Tales. They have decided to follow a symphonic power metal path but I think that they do follow exactly the same path with Rhapsody. Their music has many similarities with the Italian band that recently released a new album. The only major difference I can find is that Forgotten Tales use female vocals (and I have to admit they are very good!). But musically they seem to be heavily influenced by Rhapsody and this is something I don’t like. If they had just some parts that remind something else it would be ok but here we are talking about whole songs and furthermore about the most songs of this release. Only “Wind Oh Wind” and “Magic Fountain” don’t sound like Rhapsody. Apart from this, everything else is great. A very good production, songs with good structure, full detailed booklet etc. But the most important is music and I don’t like bands that sound exactly like someone else. I just hope their next album will have a more personal sound. Only for fans of Rhapsody who would like to see how would be the music of their favorite band with female vocals.
