Their bio states that:
“CTK are a punk-hardcore band from Boston”… doesn't say much, does it? Very diverse stuff here. I've written a review of an earlier recording made by this band and I described them as a “hybrid of Integrity and Ignite”. It's no longer the whole truth. Nowadays these guys kick out a more mature jam. What comes to mind when they play less basic fast parts is that they remind a lot of the early records of In Flames (a great Swedish melodic death metal band). They mix metal hardcore with a touch of melodic death metal. Once in a while they sound like a really pissed off skate punk band (no offense!) because some punk-like riffs are also to be heard here. The melodic power leads are very Iron Maiden-like. One track is totally acoustic and some passages are too. Some parts are also empowered by atmospheric keyboard backings… there's no weak link in this music!
The vocalists are even better on this CD. The furious death/ hardcore screams are even more furious and the melodic vocals are catchy when the guy delivers some great chorus melodies every now and then.
What can I say: jolly good work, fellas!
