ENSHADOWED – Interview with Necrotormentor

Hello Necrotormentor. Tell me a few words about Enshadowed 's history. You see, most people and especially from abroad know you with “Messengers…” for first time.

We began as an old style Norwegian Black Metal band. In September 1998 we recorded our first promo tape “Dethroned”. In March 1999 we recorded our first demo CD “Reign Of Terror”. This demo had three mid-tempo Black Metal songs and its lyrics was a dark medieval concept. At 13 – 11 – 1999 we played as a support band with Ancient Rites at Woodstock Club (Athens). In March 2000 we recorded our second demo CD “Cremation Odes” with new line up. Its songs had faster speed-tempo than our first demo CD with very good sound quality. In May 2001 we recorded our third demo CD “Nocternity Enshadowed”. Including three tracks of unholy, aggressive, brutal Scandinavian-like Black Metal with Misanthropic and Antichristian lyrics. In autumn 2001 we recorded our first debut album “Messengers Of The Darkest Dawn”.

It is obvious that you are into black metal the old ways with corpse painting, and black & white photos. This sympathy is also noticed in your music. Pure black metal with no effects. Just passion for the music. Have you had an image like this throughout these years or just now because it fits with your album?

From the beginning Enshadowed had this pure fucking black metal image!!!

The production and the lay out are both very well. Are you satisfied with Black Lotus? It is a very powerful label, especially in Greece and it helps many new bands to sign a contract. Is it real that they make you feel just fine and they cause you no problems?

Black Lotus is the best label here in Greece and we have very good relations. Promotion is very good!

“Messengers of the darkest dawn” has anti-christian lyrics. Do you believe that people who will read them shall think about the religion matters you talk about or they'll just get focused on the music?

Our ideology is very important for us. We choosed to play black metal because with black metal you can express your ideas and your most extreme feelings. It is stupid to listen this kind of dark art only for music. I hope the people who will read our lyrics to shall think same things about the fucking religions.

You were a very important unsigned band as Nocternity Enshadowed and you still support the underground scene making new projects like Mournful Night. Greece has also many cult underground black metal bands. Would you prefer to stay a cult underground band or to become a most famous black metal band worldwide?

Mournful Night is my personal project. Also, I play guitar to an other black metal band called Burial Hordes and I am the session bass player of Aeolian Fire. We would like to stay an underground band! However, we want to know us more people and support our trying.

What are your plans for the future? Maybe some live concerts within Greece? It is a chance for metalheads to know you better.

We have completed the new songs for our second album and we will begin recording this stuff soon. We would like to take part in live concerts. We had play in 11 festivals here in Athens. The last live was at 15/5/02. We played in the second Underground Metal manifestation of Metal Defiance 'zine but for the time being it is difficult for more live shows.

So, we are approaching the end. I would like to thank you for your time and to wish you luck for your future plans. You can close this interview however you like…

Thank you for the interview and good luck with your web-zine! Stay Evil and Underground. Keep the flame burning!!!
