Before the Wall came down, Spodek shook.
Do you remember the bestselling box set “Metallica Poland 1987. Behind The Iron Curtain” and the book included with it, a unique account of METALLICA’s first concerts in Poland?
In autumn 2026, the book will return in a new, highly attractive edition, expanded and updated, but this time released separately from the original box set, which was numbered and had a story of its own.
This is far more than a simple reissue. The new edition will feature previously unpublished material, updated content and a new quality of presentation, while preserving the spirit of those historic concerts.
It is also a tribute to the generation that, four decades ago, became the first in Poland to hear “Battery” performed live.
The extraordinary connection between METALLICA and its Polish fans, still clearly visible around the band’s concerts in Poland today, was born back then, in February 1987, when METALLICA played their legendary shows at Spodek in Katowice.
The book’s content is written by Mateusz Żyła, with a foreword by Leszek Gnoiński. The publication will also receive recommendations from stars of the international metal scene – exactly who will be revealed soon.
Two days that changed everything. Emotions that have survived for decades.
